Atlantic General Health System
One of Two Dynamic Healthcare Systems in the LESMD Region
A financial investment from Worcester County, the Town of Ocean City and the State of Maryland resulted in the completion of Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin in 1993 – thus ushering in the beginnings of the current Atlantic General Health System. Representing the third largest industry in Worcester County, the majority of economic impact from the healthcare industry occurs in the more densely populated northern half of the county.
Atlantic General Health System, with its network of more than 40 primary care providers and specialists, provides care to more than 58,000 residents and visitors annually – resulting in a significant economic impact not only for Worcester County, but for the LESMD Region as a whole. In addition, Atlantic General Health System maintains a robust practical and programmatic role in the LESMD workforce development/educational continuum by partnering with the region’s colleges, universities and technical high schools.
